Hello:

Currently we have Cisco 1941 at our corp office that is doing VPN Tunnel. We are looking to replace this device but not sure which model we need to buy to replace this one.

Can anyone guide me a right direction. Thx,

You are not saying why you want to replace it. As the 1941 is an actual model, I assume that you are running out of ressources. So I would look at the bigger ISR G2s starting with the 2911.

But if 1941 is only a typo and you really mean the ISR G1 1841, then you could replace that against a 1921 or any bigger ISR G2.

Thank you for your reply. That is corrected model 1941 ISR. The reason I'm asking because we had this router more than 7 yrs and still running and would like to know what model will work best to replace it.

So based on your reply you suggest to use model 2911 ISR to replace the old one if I move forward.

7 years? If I don't remember wrong it was about 2009 that the G2s were introduced.

So what could you do:

  1. Replace it against the same model if the router is still powerfull enough.
  2. Replace it against a 2911 if you need more power, or a 2901 if you are comfortable with the  power of a 1941 but would like to have a device in 19" form-factor.
  3. Ask your cisco-dealer if it is possible to put that device under SmartNet if you are just afraid of a device failure.
