I just setup my lab network, this is what I have.... Cable Modem--->ASA---Cisco 3660---> Switch. Everyting seems to be configure right, but my network is running really slow. Could adding a routing protocol help speed things up?

Hi,
The problem is that your 3660 is a really old device, not just plain old but almost fossile.
Its performance simply cannot keep up anymore, no matter what you are configuring on it.
Best thing to do is to take it out of your network like you were already told.
Perhaps then you can still sell it to some local museum.
regards,
Leo

Thanks, I knew it was old but it was cheap and I mainly use it as a learning tool. Would a 1841 be better to support a decent LAN for home use?
Thanks

Could you define "really slow"?
"Really slow" often is cause by duplex mismatches, have you confirmed all interfaces along the path are not showing any errors and agree with duplex setting with other side of link?
Do all you hops using the next hop's IP? (I.e. no static routing to the interface)

For a network as small as you describe, one ASA, one router, and one switch I do not believe that introducing a dynamic routing protocol would help.

Yeah.how and where Nd doing what you are observing slowness.
Network looks too small to comment about performance.
Please let me know where slowness is been observed?
