I have a Cisco router 1721 and for some reason it doesn't save my configurations. The power went out the other day and all the configurations were lost and it booted up asking if I wanted to start the setup. I just tried a test and turned it off and everything was gone. When I put in my configurations I type in <copy running-config startup config> and it then says building config and it finishes. I then check the configuration (not running config) and it is all there. Any ideas as to why it isn't saving? Did I miss something?

Hi,
One possibility is that the config-register is configured to ignore the startup configs.
Do "show version", what is the value of the configuration register?
http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/63/config-register-use.html
Please let us know if that helped

The config-register is 0x142

Ok I just changed the config-register value to 0x2102 and I reloaded the router and it work. Everything was saved and loaded perfectly. Thanks!
Also could you tell me what the command is to show the connections of whether the connection on e0 and faste0 is up or down and whether the protocols are up or down. I forgot it and the only way to check that is if I go into setup and then basic setup and then exit and it shows me. But i remember being a command for that?
Thanks again!
