Hej guys, I Need some help here because I cannot find any other source in the web. I'm struggling with the very first Basic config for my E1 voice Card on a Cisco 4321 router. It might be I'm missing something but I am not able to see why this is happening and I don't know if this behaviour is maybe normal? However with the predecessors of the ISR Routers and VWICs this never happend.
Of course I found and used the following documentation:
"Configuring the Cisco Fourth-Generation T1/E1 Voice and WAN Network Interface Module"
But after configuring the below mentioned Basic configuration for the E1 Controller and after a reboot all timeslots from 16 to 30 are going in admin down Status. I am using a Cisco 4321 router with IOS XE 03.13.04.S and one of the new 4th gen. modules, a NIM-1MFT-T1/E1 Card.
It is strange that the timeslots are only after a reboot in admin down Status. After configuring it not at all. This sounds not really normal. Maybe it is worth pointing out that this router is still on my desk and no E1 is connected to it. However I would not expect that Kind of behaviour even if there is a circuit connected to it.
Any ideas?

I meet same issue.
I already try many versions of IOS but cannot resolve.

Hi doanhuuhiep,
I guess this is solved now. In the meantime I've managed to connect the router with the above mentioned Minimum config to a working E1 test circuit. It was interesting to see that the Slots which were admin down before went in up state as soon as the Controller got a Signal.
So this seems to be a new Feature of the new 4th Generation E1 Cards and/or the new 4000 Series IOS XE Routers.
Really would like to hear Cisco's Explanation why this was implemented.
Currently I don't see any benefit beside the fact that it might be funny to imagine how confused a Network engineer would react on this ;-)
