Router Ethernet Interface errors

alison.hou
Level 1
Level 1

we had an issue with our MPLS circuit.  the Provider asked we check our equipment. The interface was up but there were a lot of input errors. we swapped the cable and cleared the counters. we still saw a lot of errors. see below. I ran show controller on the G0/2 and saw the following errors. Did it mean anything?

PIP_UNDER_FCS_ERR = 37, PIP_GMX_FCS_ERR = 359

Alison,

What are you connected to on the other side? I see that your gb interface is at 100/F:

Full Duplex, 100Mbps

If this is hard coded on this side, but not on the other side, the other side is possibly showing half-duplex and that would cause problems. If this is hard coded on this side, you could try to change to auto to see if it resolves the issue...

John,

you were correct. the other site was configured auto. the local provider found out and corrected it.

we were told by the provider to configure the interface 100/full. Thus, never thought of otherwise.

thanks,

Alison
