Also, is there any traffic on the router or its an isolated one.

Could you try performing a IOS upgrade or IOS software installation and see if that helps.

which router is this?

This is Cisco 4321. I am not able to run any command in this mode.

What you have posted suggests that the console is in user mode. Are you asking how to get into privilege mode? You use the enable command to get into privilege mode. How the router authenticates this (what password you would enter) depends on how the router is configured.

You say that you are not able to run any command. Are you not able to do something simple like

show interface?

Hello Richard,

I thought of that point but the prompt looks like "xxxx-cli->", Thus wondering if Rittam is not able to run the command, is it in Aux port rather than console or any other mode.

Also, it would be interesting to see how the hostname is configured.

Hi,

I have checked those options but no use, this is console login and it is strange that is showing the hostname, but without any command option.

what do you see when you do a "?" in that cli mode. If there is a show option, can you do a "?" after the show command and share the results.

a? does not show anything, and this router is not in production

If that is the case, then i would suggest trying linux cli commands like help, ls, ps etc. it may possibly be in linux shell mode or some other shell mode.

I think the best way would be to perform IOS / IOS XE installation and see if that works
