Router loses connection to internet for 5-10 seconds

Hi!

Router is Cisco C898EA-K9. Router loses connection to internet for 5-10 seconds few times a day. Here's part of output of show logging from this day:

Oct 23 07:49:10.099: %SHDSL_EA-6-DSLGROUP_UPDOWN: SHDSL 0 dsl-group state changed to down.
Oct 23 07:49:17.171: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface ATM0, changed state to down
Oct 23 07:49:17.171: %BGP-5-NBR_RESET: Neighbor [IP ADDRESS] reset (Interface flap)
Oct 23 07:49:17.171: %BGP-5-ADJCHANGE: neighbor [IP ADDRESS] Down Interface flap
Oct 23 07:49:17.171: %BGP_SESSION-5-ADJCHANGE: neighbor [IP ADDRESS] IPv4 Unicast topology base removed from session Interface flap
Oct 23 07:49:18.171: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface ATM0, changed state to down
Oct 23 07:49:33.831: %SHDSL_EA-6-DSLGROUP_UPDOWN: SHDSL 0 dsl-group state changed to up.
Oct 23 07:49:37.187: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface ATM0, changed state to up
Oct 23 07:49:38.187: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface ATM0, changed state to up
Oct 23 07:49:42.339: %BGP-3-NOTIFICATION: received from neighbor [IP ADDRESS] active 6/5 (Connection Rejected) 0 bytes
Oct 23 07:49:42.339: %BGP-5-NBR_RESET: Neighbor [IP ADDRESS] active reset (BGP Notification received)
Oct 23 07:49:42.339: %BGP-5-ADJCHANGE: neighbor [IP ADDRESS] active Down BGP Notification received
Oct 23 07:49:42.339: %BGP_SESSION-5-ADJCHANGE: neighbor [IP ADDRESS] IPv4 Unicast topology base removed from session BGP Notification received
Oct 23 07:49:52.576: %BGP-3-NOTIFICATION: received from neighbor [IP ADDRESS] active 6/5 (Connection Rejected) 0 bytes
Oct 23 07:49:52.576: %BGP-5-NBR_RESET: Neighbor [IP ADDRESS] active reset (BGP Notification received)
Oct 23 07:49:52.576: %BGP-5-ADJCHANGE: neighbor [IP ADDRESS] active Down BGP Notification received
Oct 23 07:49:52.576: %BGP_SESSION-5-ADJCHANGE: neighbor [IP ADDRESS] IPv4 Unicast topology base removed from session BGP Notification received
Oct 23 07:50:00.768: %BGP-3-NOTIFICATION: received from neighbor [IP ADDRESS] active 6/5 (Connection Rejected) 0 bytes
Oct 23 07:50:00.768: %BGP-5-NBR_RESET: Neighbor [IP ADDRESS] active reset (BGP Notification received)
Oct 23 07:50:00.768: %BGP-5-ADJCHANGE: neighbor [IP ADDRESS] active Down BGP Notification received
Oct 23 07:50:00.768: %BGP_SESSION-5-ADJCHANGE: neighbor [IP ADDRESS] IPv4 Unicast topology base removed from session BGP Notification received
Oct 23 07:50:09.168: %BGP-5-ADJCHANGE: neighbor [IP ADDRESS] Up

As you can see, I obfuscated IP address. And here's output of interface used for internet access:

ATM0.100 is up, line protocol is up
Hardware is MPC/AOE ATMSAR, address is xxxx.xxxx.xxxx (bia xxxx.xxxx.xxxx)
Internet address is [IP ADDRESS]/31
MTU 1940 bytes, BW 5696 Kbit/sec, DLY 60 usec,
reliability 255/255, txload 15/255, rxload 12/255
Encapsulation ATM
ARP type: ARPA, ARP Timeout 04:00:00
Keepalive not supported
162141016 packets input, 81759838449 bytes
128638995 packets output, 32938583661 bytes
0 OAM cells input, 0 OAM cells output
AAL5 CRC errors : 0
AAL5 SAR Timeouts : 0
AAL5 Oversized SDUs : 0
Last clearing of "show interface" counters never

So no CRC errors either. Output of ATM 0:

ATM0 is up, line protocol is up
Hardware is MPC/AOE ATMSAR, address is xxxx.xxxx.xxxx (bia xxxx.xxxx.xxxx)
MTU 1940 bytes, sub MTU 1940, BW 5696 Kbit/sec, DLY 60 usec,
reliability 255/255, txload 16/255, rxload 13/255
Encapsulation ATM, loopback not set
Keepalive not supported
Encapsulation(s): AAL5
8 maximum active VCs, 1024 VCs per VP, 1 current VCCs
VC Auto Creation Disabled.
VC idle disconnect time: 300 seconds
Last input 00:00:00, output 00:00:00, output hang never
Last clearing of "show interface" counters never
Input queue: 0/75/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 55074
Queueing strategy: Per VC Queueing
5 minute input rate 305000 bits/sec, 263 packets/sec
5 minute output rate 358000 bits/sec, 189 packets/sec
162147772 packets input, 82410830511 bytes, 0 no buffer
Received 0 broadcasts (0 IP multicasts)
0 runts, 0 giants, 0 throttles
0 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored, 0 abort
128655850 packets output, 32942413446 bytes, 0 underruns
0 output errors, 0 collisions, 0 interface resets
0 unknown protocol drops
0 output buffer failures, 0 output buffers swapped out

Any idea why internet connection disconnects happen? BTW I'm only CCNET certified and this goes way above my understanding, but I'm trying to do my best! :)

Hello,

post the full config of your router. What country are you in, and who is your ISP ?

Hi

This is our customers router and I think I should not post whole running-config for everyone to see. I'll gladly post needed parts of configuration (ofc obfuscated if it shows customer specific info). Located in Finland. You mean who is ISP of our customer? Why do you need this info (asking out of curiosity)?

Hello,

the reason for asking is that the SHDSL standard varies by country and provider, depending on the DSLAMs that are in use. Cisco routers use chipsets that sometimes are incompatible with ISP equipment.

Either way, if you black out any sensitive information, seeing the configuration would certainly help...

Post the complete output to the command "sh dsl interface".

Hi Leo

Unfortunately that is not possible:

Router#show d?
dampening data-corruption database dcm
debugging derived-config device-sensor dhcp
diag dial-peer dialer dialplan
dlsw dmvpn dn-numbers dnsix
domain dot1q-tunnel dot1x dsp-group
dspfarm dtp

There is no dsl option.
