RV042G VPN Router and Nortel Phones

Hi all,

I have a Cicso RV042G VPN router that will have a PBX gateway device (Citel MCK) connecting Nortel Meridian phone lines through to an Extender device (Citel MCK) behind another Cicso RV042G VPN router.  I am having difficulties setting up the communications.  This setup did work when there was no router involved (using the ISP modems on each end).  I am curious if this model of router is capable of handling phone traffic.

Regards,

Hello,

basically, voice traffic is just IP traffic, it shouldn't really matter what you send over the VPN. Do you have physical and logical connectivity between the PBX and the local RV042G ?

The attached  admin guide (see page 186) gives an example on how to set up bandwidth management for VoIP...

Thank you for the document.  I had a similar document from Citel MCK, but this was better as it related directly to the router.

With the setup completed, I still have my issue.  I am not sure where to turn.  Citel people are telling me it is the Cisco router, but I don't see it.  Their only test is to ping the router.  I do not have ICMP allowed, I was not about to allow access through that port.  I did disable the firewall for a few minutes, but I couldn't ping.  I am not sure about why that is so unless the ISP modem is not allowing it.  I won;t be able to check that until Monday.
