same router will ping eth0/0 to eth0/1?

Dear Friends,

Please help me one of my querry...

I have a cisco_2800 router, which is having fastether net 0/0 and fastether net0/1

For eth 0/0 given ip is 192.168.1.1 and one pc connected (192.168.1.2)

and for eth 0/1 given ip is 10.20.30.1 and one pc connected (10.20.30.2)

i did not give any route and in this condection can i ping 192.168.1.2 to 10.20.30.2?

If i want to ping 192.168.1.2 to 10.20.30.2 wihat i need to do?

Yes, you should be able to ping from one to the other...The router knows both routes as "connected" routes and will route between the 2. The only thing that you need to make sure of is that you have your firewall disabled on both hosts.

You will likely need to either enter a route in each PC to the destination network (with a next hop of the routers local interface), or use the more familiar method of configuring a default gateway on each PC (the default gw will be the IP of the router interface connected to that PC).  Each PC will need to know where to send traffic destined for the external network.

As j.blakley noted, the router will not need any explicit routes configured since both networks are directly connected.
