Hi,
ISR 819 has 1 Serial integrated WAN port as shown below.
What is the purpose of using Serial WAN port in the ISR router? How to use those Serial ports?

Hi
you could probably use it as a voice E1/T1 connection depending what part of the world your in , it would still be an rj45 presentation but its technology would be serial and these type of interfaces are widely used in voice for local breakouts
example voice calls would break out voip over mpls but if mpls was down or the call only needs to go to local are you would break out the serial interface or if ringing an emergency number as that would need to be local too
