I currently have SMF/MMF SFPs in an ASR 1001 router. I want to replace these fiber conection with an GigE connection. Must I order a GE-T SFP connector or can I just take out the Fiber SFP and use the port?

depends on the module - Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) with Fibre SFP,  you want to use Copper then you need to get GLC-T Copper SFP.

Again make sure the distrance of Copper support.

If you only have SFP ports you'll need copper SFPs.

Some platforms have copper and SFP ports that logically share a port.  For those, you often need to configure the port whether to use the copper or SFP physical port.
