Hi
I am planning for a change to shutdown all BGP neighbours (approx. 150 peers) in Nexus 7000, NX-OS 6.x for testing.
I see there is option of gracefully shutting down of BGP protocol process in NX-OS (as per below) that may eliminate the need of shutting down individual 150 peers.
I know when we do BGP neighbour shutdown, BGP neighbourship status on the remote-peer router immediately becomes down hence no need to wait until hold down time expiration(180 sec by default) for routing convergence. I want to confirm if BGP shutdown would behave the same.

Shutting Down BGP
You can shut down the BGP protocol and gracefully disable BGP and retain the configuration.
To shut down BGP, use the following command in router configuration mode:
Procedure
|
Command or Action |
Purpose |
Step 1 |
switch(config-router)# shutdown |
Gracefully shuts down BGP.
