SPA-4XT-SERIAL supported on 7600-SIP-400?

Can someone provide information publicly on CCO that states what SIP's the SPA-4XT-SERIAL is supported on? The datasheets for the SPA, and both the SIP-200 and SIP-400 are more marketing fluff than they are true documentation...

The SPA datasheet

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/modules/ps6267/product_data_sheet0900aecd80730cdf.html

says "supported platform" = "7600", which is woefully inadequate...

The 7600-SIP-200 datasheet:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps368/product_data_sheet0900aecd8027c9df.html

has supported modules by name, not by part number, and although it does say it supports it, there is a typo on the line below that makes you wonder if they are talking about this module or some new serial adapter for Fast Ethernet ;-):

• Cisco 4-Port Channelized  T3 (DS0) Shared Port Adapter

• Cisco 4-Port Serial Shared Port Adapter

Fast Ethernet

• Cisco 4-Port Fast Ethernet Shared Port Adapter

The 7600-SIP-400 datasheet:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps368/product_data_sheet0900aecd8027c9e6.html

does not list the 4-port Shared Port Adapter and none of the configuration tools, MLC, ICT, NetFormx  allow you to configure that SPA in a 400, but do in a 200...

Can someone shed some light on Cisco's thinking?

SPA-4XT-SERIAL is only supported after IOS 12.2(33)SRC1 or above in the 7600 router with the SIP-200 line card.

Hello Mike,

if you are referring to 4 T3/E3 SPA it is declared supported in SIP/SPA configuration guide

see

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/interfaces_modules/shared_port_adapters/configuration/7600series/76intsw.html#wp1144362

This document provides more technical details.

to be noted of all listed serial SPAs are supported on SIP-400 and SIP-200 or only on SIP-400.

And you are right the SPA SPA-4XT-SERIAL is not mentioned there.

I'm sure to have seen this SPA installed on an ASR 1000, but I'm afraid it doesn't help.

To be noted also that I remember a thread about the fact that some of these SPAs are supported on C7600 but not on C6500 !!

And this is really a vendor choice.

Edit:

Jerry has provided the internal view on this

thanks

Hope to help

Giuseppe
