Standby track based on availability of an ip address

Hi!

I was wondering wether it would be possible to preform standby tracking based on the availability of an other ip address then itself? (and instead of tracking its physical interface)

The hardware we're using SUP720BXL, 122-18.SXE1

This could be handy in case of 2 routers and 2 firewalls, where the routers are using HSRP and have static routes to the standby ip address of the firewall-cluster. When a fiberlink fails between the 2 routers, both will assume to be active, but only 1 firewall remains master -> problem ....

Thanks!

Wim

I havent heard of Standby tracking IPs but yes there is a track (object based tracking) which can be used to track routes etc. If the track fails then the corresponding route is removed.

Check this link out. This may help
