Static Routing/Default Route...your interface vs your neighbor's interface vs. your neighbor's hop address

1.) When should you configure a static route with an exit interface?

2.) When should it be your neighbor's address?

3.) It seems that DEFAULT ROUTES ask you to send out your own interface...although I've been able to send it to my neighbor's interface at times while getting a 'invalid interface' when trying to do that other times...is this an IOS issue?

Hi Josh,

Check out this document written by ashirkar.

He goes into these scenarios in pretty good detail.
