I am having a problem with a 2811 that keeps getting this messsage:
Nov 16 18:34:58.645: %SYS-4-CHUNKMALLOCFAIL: Could not allocate chunks for ATM0/0/0
Total free: 0, Total inuse: 16, Cause : Not a dynamic chunk
-Process= "ATM Periodic", ipl= 4, pid= 80, -Traceback= 0x416A3DFC 0x400C3188 0x400C31EC 0x4037C4BC 0x400C5C1C
This causes the DSL interface to crash.
Sounds to me like a software caused memory issue, but I am at the top of my IOS release now and no improvement.
Has anyone seen this or got any sugestions?

I'm experiencing the same issue with a customer's 2811. Have you had any progress with the problem ?

Which exact IOS and DSL FW are you running?

The router is a 2811 running c2800nm-adventerprisek9-mz.124-15.T1.bin and has 256Mb Dram.
I've been advised to downgrade to 12.4.11T to see if it makes any difference.
Any suggestions ?

IOS should not make a difference.
What matters is that you upgrade the DSL FW, you can access at:
ftp://ftp.cisco.com/pub/access/800
The one you want is 3.0.x, there is a document describing how to install it.

Bevilacqua,
Here's the show dsl interface output. As you'll see, its already running firmware 3.0.014. Do you think I should still upgrade the firmware ?

Hi,
yes to be on the safe side I would try first to upgrade to 3.0.33.
Failing that you may need help from the tac for further troubleshooting.

In the mean time I swapped my HWIC DSL for an old WIC which has resolved the issue. So i have looked at the firmware on this to compare it but its not the same chipset. Do you know where if this has new firmware and if so what the url is?
