Hi,
I have Cisco 3845 router which has HWIC-4ESW installed. Two logical T1 lines are delivered and presensted as RJ 45/48. I need to connect 2 x T1 line to router via HWIC-4ESW card ( FastEthernet0/0/0 - 0/0/2).
Currently I have connected firtst T1 to Fa0/0/0 port and 2nd T1 line to Fa0/0/1 via Ehternet straight though cable, but router interface are showing down down. I believe I need to add some configs lines under Fa0/0/0 and Fa0/0/1 to make both T1 line work.
My intentions are to bundel both T1 line together and wok as a single connection. I understand I can;'t assign IP addresses to HWIC-4 ESW ports as its just a 4 port switch.
Can you please suggest what sort of configs I wil need to make it work.
Thanks.

Hi,
You can't do what you want to do because ethernet and T1 are 2 different L1/L2 and your hwic-4esw is an ethernet switch module not a T1 controller.
You may use VWIC-2MFT-T1 or VIC2-2MFT-T1/E1.

I do not believe that you will be able to get this to work. While the connectors for the T1 are the same kind of connectors that work for Ethernet switches, the T1s use a serial protocol (HFLC, or PPP, or something else that you configure). These serial protocols do not use MAC addresses and use a signaling that is very different from Ethernet. So you can not get a T1 to work when connected to an Ethernet switch. What you need to make the T1s work is some kind of serial interface card for your router.
