telnet error when trying to connect to linksys wag120n router

typing in cmd "telnet 192.168.1.1" gives me this error "could not open connection to the host on port 23". I tried this same command on my old router and it worked just fine. so it has to be the router right? what settings should I change on my pc or router to fix this?

It is almost certainly an issue on the router and not on your PC. Since we do not know how the router is configured we can not know what you need to change. But my guess is that it is configured with a restriction that does not allow telnet from the subnet where your PC is located.

Hi Muhammadsaleet,

could you check ip address/subnet of your pc and the gateway and also as Mr.Burts said check if any accesslist in the blocking the Telnet access from the PC's subnet.
