Third Party Connection Requirements

Hi,

we have a business requirement to connect to a 3rd party company to share critcical and security sensitive database. the information is of very small size (Maximum 1 meg of data per day) though very security sensitive.

What can be most secured and affordable way of connecting the two sides? what are industry best pratices for this type of connection requirement?

Hello Emmanuel,

if you need to move small traffic volume per day you can consider to use an IPSec tunnel with strong encryption like 3DES.

This should be enough using both AH and ESP to provide the required security unless security policy asks for more then average requirements.

This is affordable also with low end Cisco routers just to make an example.

note: with the appropriate IOS image for completeness.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
