We are using Solarwinds' Orion for snmp monitoring of our environment. It's reporting a periodic large amout of transmit discards on one of our 6509 port channel interfaces. The number seems to coincide with the output of a show interface on the PO, but Orion also reports a very small number of discards throughout the day.
That said, we have been watching the interface on the switch command line and we saw no output drops throughout the day, even though Orion seemed to be showing a small, constant stream of discards on every polling cycle. My question - does anyone know if Orion's transmit discards are the same as the switch interface's output drops or should I be looking at something else?
In addition, I've seen some IOS versions on a 3750 show a huge number of output drops, which turned out to be an IOS bug. I just wonder if the same thing is happening on this 6509 switch.
