TRUNKING CONFUSION !!

What is the default trunking mode on switches?

I appreciate this might be a no brainer for most of you, but please bare with me!

None of the switches below have been configured 

 

This is the output from a switch running iOS (C3725-ADVENTERPRISEK9-M), Version 12.4(15)T7, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc3)

Here is a quote from the book CISCO OFFICIAL CERT GUIDE: CCNP Routing & Switching SWITCH 300-115

 

 

"In the switchport mode command, you can set the trunking mode to any of the
following:

■ dynamic desirable (the default):................

■ dynamic auto................"

 

Can anybody shed some light on this question.
