I am new to VRF and in particular VRF Lite and would like to gain some insight into its potential uses. In particular, I am looking for a cost effective solution to extend customer sites into a datacenter. The "extend" part of this solution is particularly crucial because I am looking to extend the Layer 2 network of the customer into the datacenter.
I am aware that VRF Lite can be used to isolate traffic between two networks and can also be used in instances of overlapping ip addresses. From a datacenter perspective this is useful as I can run VRF Lite and isolate different customers from one another regardless of their ip address schema. What I am struggling to understand is how I could integrate this with remote customer sites.
Can i use Site to Site VPNs or some form of encrypted VPN tunnel to terminate to the datacenter, and have VRF Lite differentiate between the customers? Im guessing not because im not sure how you would configure to endpoints to have the same schema unless you perform some for of NAT at either end??
Any help regarding this would be grealty appreciated as I have searched high and low for a similar configuration example but have failed to find anything appropriate.
