Hi,
I have a CISCO 871 router and WAN interface is FastEthernet4.
I cant make it member of a vLan , or in other words, Switchport mode access is not available when I try to configure this interface.
Any ideas?

An 871's F4 is most like other ISR routed ports. F0..3 are like switch ports. Their, F0..3 vs. F4, feature support is different, by design.
What kind of "idea" are you looking for? I.e. what is it you want to do that you believe you cannot?

Well, F4 is wan interface and I asked if can create a vlan, lets say Vlan2 and then make this F4 interface member of vlan2.
That's why Switchport mode access wasn't working for interface F4.

Correct, you cannot assign F4 as a VLAN access port. Why can you not use ports F0..3 for such a need?
Understand, an 871 is a router, that supports a few switchports, so you might be able to avoid the need to connect an external switch.
BTW, F4 might support VLAN tagging, if it supports subinterfaces.

Hello,
No, there is no such need that WAN /outside interface must be in vLan.
I was assuming if outside interface should be member of vlan as inside interfaces does F0..F3 (in vlan 1).
