wifi router RV110W mirroring function doesnt work on wifi client traffic (works only on LAN traffic)

Hello,

just got this mini wifi router.

I'm senior network engineer and need this to capture wifi client traffic.

Instructions state that setting mirroring options like this:

Source WAN0

mirroring LAN1

I should get all WAN0 traffic on LAN1 ethernet.

I connected a laptop with fixed ip to LAN1 and start sniffing whit wireshark:

The result is that I get ONLY fixed LAN traffic mirror and NOT WIFI traffic mirror.

I don't understand if this is a feature (limitation) or something is wrong with my config.

From your setup with WAN mirrored and LAN1 monitor, you should be able to view all network traffic to/from the WAN port.  If your wifi device  accesses the internet via the WAN port you should be able to see the packets using wireshark running on the laptop. Also if you access the LAN1 laptop from your WIFI device you will see the packets to and from your WIFI device,

Port mirroring only works on the 4 LAN ports and the WAN port.  If any packets are sent/received to/from a WIFI device over one of these ports, it can be monitored.
