Will adding "neighbor prefix-list out" require a "clear ip bgp"?

I need to add a prefix-list to filter outbound advertisements to an eBGP peer. Will I have to clear the BGP session for the prefix-list to be effective?

once you add a prefix list, you can check in the neighbor table "sh ip bgp" if that route is appearing or not.

If not, you can do soft reset because if you do clear ip bgp, your BGP session will reset and there will be some outage for which it is better to schedule in a maintenance window.

but i feel soft reset will work.

I see - as in a "clear ip bgp x.x.x.x soft out". Sounds like a good option, thanks!
