Advertise Internet/default route Cisco SDWAN

Hello,

Currently we're on DMVPN for our WAN and migrating to Cisco sd-wan as a replacement. Currently, all dmvpn sites reach the Internet from our data center, hence, the DC advertises a default route. At the current design, the sdwan has to be able to do the same thing (local Internet breakout is something we're considering in the future). Is there any way to have a full sites mesh but have the DC advertise the default route out to the Internet?

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

Ofcourse, you can do that. The simplest way to do is by just creating a static default route on the hub Edge router under the service VPN by specifying the next hop and then redistribute this static route under OMP.

If you’re already learning the default route from your LAN device over the dynamic routing protocol such as OSPF or BGP, Then you just have to simply redistribute those routes over OMP.

But, you just have to make sure that no other branches are advertising the default route over OMP.

On a side note, I would prefer DIA in order to use the branch bandwidth effectively and not to overload the DC bandwidth, as long as there’s a proper security measure in place.

Kr,

Bala
