xxx-xxx-gw1(config)# logging discriminator yyyy ?
Possible completions:
facility mnemonics msg-body rate-limit severity <cr>
xxx-xxx-gw1(config)#

When do we use facility option or mnemonics option or msg-body when building the logging discriminator configs .

Trying this configs via CLI mode on 17.3.4a

Those options refers to which part of the log you want to filter.

This is the standard format of a log message on cisco IOS:

seq no:timestamp: %facility-severity-MNEMONIC:description

Example:

00:00:46: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface Port-channel1, changed state to up
  • facility: refers to the module generator of the log (for example, SNMP, SYS) in the example LINK
  • mnemonics: string that uniquely describes the message, in the example UPDOWN
  • msg-body: refers to any part of the rest of the log.
