Hi,
of course by searching internet and guides you can get more, but let me put my 5 cents.
Basically it is the first node to communication which should be known by all other devices (that is the reason we have vbond command under system via IP or DNS name). All devices communicate to vbond and after authenticating rest of overlay information is provided by vbond.
Normally, router does not know vsmart/vmanage IP/information. It gets from vbond.
Plus, vbond has stun functionality for edge routers (data plane related topic)

Connectiong to vBond is the firts step to onboard an Edge to the SD-WAN fabric.
It's the point of authentication and it will distribute the vSmart and vManage controllers to the Edge to stablish this communication.
