SDWAN - Significance of path-id and how labels are generated

 Hello All,

Just 2 quick questions;

1. I see something called "path-id" in many outputs from vEdge and vSmarts. What is the significance of this path-id? How is this path-id assigned and by whom? Does this play any role in best-path selections (I guess not, as I see this not part of best-path selection criteria) or in any other way? I could not find any Cisco documentation on this.

2. How are the labels assigned for Data Plane connectivity? Are they assigned per prefix (just like in MP-BGP in MPLS) or is it per VPN? I see label numbers like 1003, 4410 etc. How are these label values picked up? just random or in any sequence?

I would appreciate any help with these questions.

Regards,

Mohan
