vManage (20.6.5) Active/Standby (Disaster Recovery) Configuration

Hello,

Greetings!

Requesting for help on the below vManage high availability (Disaster Recovery) configuration.

We want to deploy vManage controllers in active/standby (Disaster Recovery) configuration. One vManage will be in primary DC and second vManage will be in secondary or DR site.

Both vManage have a separate replication NIC configured.

vManage software version 20.6.5.

How we can achieve this? I can see one cisco document about "vManage cluster Disaster Recovery (DR)".

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/solutions/collateral/enterprise-networks/sd-wan/white-paper-c11-741440.html#vManageclusterDisasterRecoveryDR

In order to have primary vManage sync the config with standby vManage in DR data center, is the configuration steps in the guide mentioned in the link is sufficient enough or are there more steps involved?

Any help in this regard is highly appreciated.

Many Thanks,

Girish

Hello All,

Recently, we had configured the HA for vManage with Single mode in DC and Single mode DR setup.

Pre-requisites:

  1. Both vManages must have a dedicated NIC card with IP addresses reachable from both vManages.
  2. Both vManages must be identical.
  3. For the DR vManage, the organization-name must be configured, certificates installed, and tunnel interfaces active. No controllers are added to this standby vManage.

Configuration:

  1. In the both vManage GUI Administration > Cluster Management page, click the ‘…’ button on the right, and click Edit to modify the IP address to change localhost to the IP address of the vManage-HA interface.
  2. Enter username and password and check the checkbox for SD-AVC. (Create new username/password for HA-recommended)
  3. Click on Update.

Once both vManages restart their services and come up, follow procedure below for DR Setup.

  1. Open the Administration > Disaster Recovery page.
  2. Click the Manage Disaster Recovery button.
  3. On the Manage Disaster Recovery page, enter the replication interface IP address (replication interface) for primary and secondary vManage. Enter the admin username and password. (newly created credentials)
  4. On the next page, enter the IP address and the admin username and password for the first vBond in the primary DC
  5. Click Next to continue.
  6. On the next page, if you are not using an arbitrator, leave the Manual recovery mode selected.
  7. Set the replication interval to 60 mins.
  8. Click save to continue.
