This enhancement extends the Realtime (inline) DLP policy beyond internet-bound traffic to private resource traffic, allowing you to secure data stored in private applications, preventing unauthorized downloads, and ensuring files containing sensitive data aren't stored in inappropriate locations.

Key Benefits:

  • Extended Coverage: Protect data across private applications by monitoring both uploads and downloads to ensure compliance and security.
  • Flexible Configuration: Select specific private resources or private resource groups to tailor protection according to organizational needs.

Which types of private resources are supported?
HTTP-based applications, for example, internally hosted web applications.

Will more types of private resources be supported in the future?
Yes, we plan to release support for network shares and file servers based on SMB/FTP protocols.

Where are DLP rules for Private Resources managed?
DLP rules for Private Resources are managed within ‘Realtime’ rules. You may select both Private Resources and Private Resource Groups as destinations.

Are private resources defined within DLP rules?
No, Private Resources are centrally managed and common for both private access rules and Realtime DLP rules. Find Private Resources under the Resources menu item.
Realtime DLP policy will allow a selection of any combination of private resources and/or private resource groups.

What type of private resource traffic is scanned?
DLP will can scan files being uploaded or downloaded from private resources. You can choose to scan either uploads, downloads, or both in each Realtime DLP rule.

Can I combine private resource destinations and internet-bound destinations in one rule?
Yes, you can use one rule to conveniently protect sensitive data across both public and private applications.
