The “Generative AI” content category is now available in Cisco Secure Access and Cisco Umbrella. This category, along with over 100 other content categories (https://docs.sse.cisco.com/sse-user-guide/docs/web-content-categories), is available for Web and DNS traffic, to be selected in content control policies and enrich reporting data. No customer action is required, and this can be optionally selected in any Content Control policy objects.

This can be used in parallel with our existing Content Control settings for Generative AI (https://support.umbrella.com/hc/en-us/articles/23281117918484-NEW-Generative-AI-Content-Control-and-expansion-of-DLP-AI-tools-coverage). Application definitions can be used for comprehensive reporting on application use, policies for controlling the use of applications, and DLP for Umbrella SIG and Secure Access customers.

The data for this category is fed from Cisco Talos (https://talosintelligence.com/about), a proven and trusted threat intelligence research team comprised of world-class researchers, analysts and engineers. Talos powers the Cisco portfolio with comprehensive intelligence covering every customer environment, every event, every single day, all around the world. Their definition for inclusion in this content category:

Generative AI - Websites whose primary purpose is to use artificial intelligence models to generate output in the form of text, audio, video, or images based on user-supplied prompts. Technologies which tangentially use generative AI as part of their service are not included.
