Cisco 6506E crash

Hi,

Running two Cisco Catalyst 6506E in the VSS mode more than 4 years without any bugs. IOS Version 15.0(1)SY2

Suddenly after adding access-list (permit tcp host 192.168.0.xxx 17.0.0.0 0.255.255.255) Primary switch crashed, and with some delay up to 30 seconds Secondary Switch became Primary and became able to support network.

Does anybody faced with such situation?

Hi,

Never seen that before but would not surprise me if a bug was activated with the ACL and caused the switch to crash.. The good thing is that at least the stand-by switch took over and start forwarding traffic within seconds and did not cause a massive outage.
