I'm trying to associate FEXs in a number of VDCs on a Nexus 7K running NX-OS 6.1.
The design that I'm working to calls for duplicate FEX IDs across multiple VDC, ie VDC 2 has FEX 101 and VDC 3 has FEX 101. Given that VDCs are unique contexts on the 7K and a FEX cannot be associated with multiple VDCs, why can't I use the same FEX ID numbering in different VDCs?
Has anyone seems any documentation relating to this FEX ID apart from the fact that it needs to be in the range 100-199?

Hello Nicholas,
Please find the below link for white papers on Cisco Nexus 7000 Series Virtual Device Context Deployment.
Hope it may help you

Nicholas,
Think about it like this, fex's are seen as another line card in the chassis. The fex id's (101) are basically virtual chassis slots. Even when associating normal line card ports to vdc's, they still maintain their slot numbering. So basically you can't install two fex's in the same slot, virtual or not.
