I have to connect two mainframes using a WAN link. Both mainframes are running VTAM with APPN. So i have to connect two APPN nodes.
Normally we are using DLSW+ to transport SNA traffic.
Is it possible to also use DLSW+ for transporting APPN traffic.
I don't want any APPN functionality on the routers. Just encapsulate the packet and tranport it, as i do with other SNA traffic. The Cisco information confuses me because in all documents there is some APPN functionality configured on the router.
So my question is : can i use DLSW+ to transport APPN traffic "as is".
thanks,

Yes, you can use DLSW to transport APPN traffic. There is an example at the following URL -

Thank you for your answer.
I have read the example. Does it make any difference that we don't use a CIP but connect directly to the OSA adapter ?
thanks,
Gerald

Hi Gerald,
No, it doesn't matter that you're using an OSA, it will work. However, I'd like to suggest that you use the Enterprise Extender (EE) DLC instead of LLC. The following URL provides an overview of EE.
