Is VSS Applicable for single ethernet connected servers

It appears that as the active supervisor reboots, it take down (disables) all ports in its chassis as it reboots. This causes a outage to all single connected servers to that chassis for the reboot time period. In our case this is a 8 minutes outage.

Right.
Also, if the two Cat6500 which make up the VSS system looses the VSL link between them, they end up in dual-active mode and the way that is handled is to shut all interfaces in the previous master switch.
That is why the strong recommendation is _not_ to single-attach anything to a VSS system, so either use dual-attached servers or have your single-attached servers (and everything else) connected to a server access switch which then is uplinked to both chassis in the VSS bundle.
