isolate vlan or virtual machine

i need to put a vm into an isolated vlan so that only specific vms can commnuicate with it.  how do i do this?

The location of the various VMs determines what kind of solution you can use.

If you just have a couple of VMs you don't mind located on the same physical host, then you could create a vswitch with no physical uplinks, so only the guests vms could talk to each other.

Other solutions such as private vlans can work across multiple physical hosts, but requires a lot more setup.

Only with port marked as promiscuous, can the 'isolated' 2ndary vlan devices/ports, communicate with.
