LACP and PortChannel

Hi,

Can someone please provide me clarification to the scenario on port-channel and throughput

Question is i have SVR1-Vmhost created Po1 at the VM to the Switch-1 at 10gig from Switch-1 to Switch-2 Po2 at 1gig then going to

switch-2 to SVR2-Vmhost  Po1 at 10gig

is it my understanding that the throughput from portchannels-1 at 10gig(20gig bandwidwidth) will be only 10gig?

as the same goes for portchannel-2 at 1gig(2gig bandwidth) will only be 1gig?

Kind Regards,

More Details needed:

I assume you  have VMware ESXi on each server, and therefore a Software Switch vswitch or DVS or N1k ? or are you talking about a Server without any hypervisor ?

Some of this configurations support LACP; then you have to consider load balancing algorithm and Failover;

In general, one TCP flow traverses one link of a pc, therefore your guess is correct.

HI ZEN,

If its single flow then what ever you said is correct. But in case if you have different traffic  flows then  load sharing will happen between the Member link,you can achieve full bandwidth.

Thanks,

Muthu.
