All,

Does the line card N7K-F248XP-25E support GRE and full EIGRP routing?

Thanks.

Hello yuhuiyao,

The Nexus feature availability depends upon the licensing. I believe you would need to purchase an Enterprises Services Pakage license to run GRE and EIGRP.

Here is the link to the complete licensing guide, incase you would like to know about more features as well.

Hi,

As per Table 5 of the Cisco Nexus 7000 Series NX-OS Release Notes, Release 6.1 GRE is not supported in either hardware or software with the N7K-F248XP-25E I/O module.

In terms of EIGRP routing, Layer-3 support is available within the F2 series I/O modules, but the maximum number of IP prefix supported is lower than the M1 or M2 series I/O modules.

As per Table 3 of the Cisco Nexus 7000 F2-Series Enhanced 48-Port Fiber 1 and 10 Gigabit Ethernet Module the maximum supported IPv4 entries is 32,768.

By contrast in the M1 or M2 series I/O modules the maximum supported IPv4 entries is 128K or 1M with the scalable feature license. This is found in the Cisco Nexus 7000 M1-Series 8-Port 10 Gigabit Ethernet Module with XL Option Data Sheet or Cisco Nexus 7000 M2-Series 24-Port 10 Gigabit Ethernet Module with XL Option Data Sheet.

Regards

Let me add to Steve's post.

1.  Current NX-OS does NOT support the F2e line card to co-exist with M1, M2 or F1 card (in the same vDC).  Next release will enable this feature.

2.  So this means that when the F2e is on the same chassis (same vDC) with an M1/M2 card, the F2e will "downgrade" itself to a Layer 2 card and let all routing be handled by the M1/M2 card.
