N7K Layer 3 licensing question

Hi,

I want to get a pair of N7K-F248XP-25 modules to connect FEXs to and to run basic inter vlan routing and HSRP.

Will the module do this out of the box or do I need the N7K-LAN1K9 license?

No license required for FEX, HSRP or inter VLAN routing. Will not be able to do any VDCs or dynamic routing though.

Yes, The F2 modules do layer 3.

The NEW eF2 card can do Layer 3.  But if there's an M1/M2 card, then the eF2 card will "demote" itself and let the M1/M2 card do the routing.  The eF2 will do Layer 2 instead.
