Hi All,
I have a pair of Nexus 5k which are vPC peers, each one has a few single-homed FEX's connected to it.
I have to connect a server which has 4x 1G ports, and I'd like to distribute them between 4 FEX's in this fashion:
server port 1 -> FEX 100 connected to 5k "A"
server port 2 -> FEX 101 connected to 5k "A"
server port 3 -> FEX 102 connected to 5k "B"
server port 4 -> FEX 103 connected to 5k "B"
FEX's ports will be configured in an LACP port-channel associated to a vPC.
Can I distribute those server ports as above?
Cheers
Fed

Hi Fed,
that should be no problem from my point of view.
I have usd vPC many times over single armed FEX.
I haven't done it over four FEX but many times over two.
So I would just go ahead and test it...
Regards,
Markus

Hi Fed,
I don't see any problem with your design. you can distribute the server ports as you mentioned.
It should work on in both case either single homed or dual homed vpc.
thanks,
Muthu.

Hi Fed,
It appears is fine as long as you keep single-homed FEX topology (servers with multiple NICs that support 802.3ad port channel). You cannot connect port channels to FEXs when the FEXs are dual-homed to both Cisco Nexus 5500 Series devices.

I would anyway propose to do single homed FEX. There is some advantages and less problems from my point of view.
But vPC over dual homed is possible as well. (It wasn't some time ago, but it is now supported)

Hello Federico,
Port-channel and vPC across single homed FEX's
Yes , it is possible.
