I have a pair of Nexus 5k which are vPC peers, each one has a few single-homed FEX's connected to it. I have to connect a server which has 4x 1G ports, and I'd like to distribute them between 4 FEX's in this fashion:
server port 1 -> FEX 100 connected to 5k "A" server port 2 -> FEX 101 connected to 5k "A" server port 3 -> FEX 102 connected to 5k "B" server port 4 -> FEX 103 connected to 5k "B"
FEX's ports will be configured in an LACP port-channel associated to a vPC. Can I distribute those server ports as above?
It appears is fine as long as you keep single-homed FEX topology (servers with multiple NICs that support 802.3ad port channel). You cannot connect port channels to FEXs when the FEXs are dual-homed to both Cisco Nexus 5500 Series devices.
