router can't boot

i have 1720 router with 8Mb flash and 16 Mdram, i changed the soft then when i reload it decompress the IOS the crach because it haven't memory to load ios.

there arn't possibility that router decompress ios directly from flash, without transfert it to the ram then decompress it ?

officially no.

But you can try to use unix unzip command to decompress the ios.

Then copy it into flash.

I have never done it myself but you can give it a try.

What software version and feature set are you running? The 1720 runs the IOS from memory therefore it needs to load the complete image into memory (after it is decompressed). If the router does not have enough memory to load the de-compressed image into main memory then decompressing it before saving it on the flash isn't going to help. If 16mb's is not enough for the version and feature set you are using then try to find a version/feature set that will work with 16mb (12.0 ip plus for example).
