RV042G v01 crashed after firmware update

Router has Diag led blinking and responds to ping on 192.168.1.1, no web interface available, nor telnet

I have found latest RV042 v1 firmware: RV042_v1.3.13.02-tm_20110128-code.rmt

How can I re-flash this firmware?

Is it possible to make it working again?

Hi Giedrius, can you hold the reset button for about 35 second to reset the router to see if it recovers?

If it still does not recover, you may need to try to resolve the firmware through recovery utility.

http://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=282414010&catid=268437899&softwareid=282465800&release=4.0.0.7&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest

While using the RV0xx firmware recovery utility, users need to ensure that

1.    Diag LED is blinking

2.    Give the PC running the utility a static IP address in the 192.168.1.0/24 subnet, e.g. 192.168.1.100

3.    There is a correct response when pinging 192.168.1.1.

4.    Temporarily disable Windows firewall

5.    Temporarily disable anti-virus software

Thanks Tom for posting. I have already done that in the morning prior yo your posting. It was still not responding to web UI on http/s 192.168.1.1 80/443 ports.

I have called then cisco support and lady said that there is no such firmware like 4.0.0.07. Completed thd troubleshooting on the phone: reseted again,  "Diag" led started blinking, all lights flashed in green for a second (probably rebooted itself) and then again "diag" led was blinking, "system" and "dmz mode" lights were steady green.

The reason for firmware update was: loosing responsiveness to WEB UI while leaving on for 5+ minutes. Not possible to see web ui page for 15+ minutes. Unless I change ip address and open new browser window.

This reminds me login session problems with the website. Session was destroyed begore logout and was marked to be ignored

Hi Giedrius, here is an old trick but I'm not sure if it works any more or not.

Set your computer to 192.168.1.x network with 255.255.255.0 mask and 192.168.1.1 gateway

Power down the router

Hold the reset button in

Power the router on while holding the reset button in. When the DIAG light stops flashing, let go of the reset button

Open your web browser, go to http://192.168.1.1 and if it loads you may see a browse file button

Browse to a firmware image you have saved, select it, load it and see what happens

If this does not work, you can try similar procedure with TFTP as the router looks for TFTP during initial boot up.
