Universal Resource Locator (URL) Blocking Configuration on the RV120W and RV220W

Objective

Universal Resource Locator (URL) Blocking allows you to block access to websites that contain specific keywords in the URL or the page contents. URL Blocking filters web traffic based on content category, specific URL, and time of day, in order to give organizations full control over the web browsing activities to keep the environment safe and controlled.

This document explains how to configure URL Blocking on the RV120W and RV220W.

Note: In order to access URL Blocking you must have content filtering enabled. For further instructions refer to the article Content Filtering Configuration on the RV120W and RV220W.

Configuration of URL Blocking

Add a URL Keyword

Step 1. Log in to the web configuration utility and choose Firewall > URL Blocking. The URL Blocking page opens:

Step 2. Click Add Row to add a new keyword.

Step 3. Check the Status check box to enable blocking for the keyword.

Step 4. Choose in what way you want to block the URL from the Type drop-down list. The only available option in this situation is URL Keyword.

Step 5. Enter the URL keyword or the website you want to block in the URL field.

Step 6. Click Save to apply all settings.

Edit a URL Keyword

Step 1. Log in to the web configuration utility and choose Firewall > URL Blocking. The URL Blocking page opens:

Step 2. Check the check box next to the desired entry to be edited from the Blocked Keyword Table.

Step 3. Click Edit and a small editing window will appear.

Step 4. Make the desired changes and click Save to apply all settings.

Delete a URL Keyword

Step 1. Log in to the web configuration utility and choose Firewall > URL Blocking. The URL Blocking page opens:

Step 2. Check the check box next to the desired entry to be deleted from the Blocked Keyword Table.

Step 3. Click Delete and the keyword entry will be deleted.

Step 4. Click Save to save all settings.

This guide is wrong.

 

I have an RV120W and I am trying to configure URL blocking and it does not work.

I have firmware version 1.0.5.9.

 

The screen example is not right.  The screen looks like:

 

 

I have configured the network "Developers" that this table applies to, but it does not block youtube.com

 

Kindly advice.
