Hi Folks,
I've found myself in an interesting scenario. The nodes that we will be using for intermediate nodes are being used in production for L2 already. In theory I don't see a problem with us just adding to DNAC and using the free interfaces upstream (to border) & downstream (to edge) but the scarey thing is will DNAC ever just decide to delete the VLANs/other configs on there.
Any thoughts/exp? My exp is - it doesn't matter i can do what i want on them and should be gravey.
Thanks
J

The DNAC will not make any changes toto intermediate nodes config outside of what is specified under "design > network settings" and what you push in templates. If you are in doubt, select "generate preview" when you provision your switch. That way you can inspect and validate that the configuration will not interfere with the production network. If you are still in doubt - make a config backup before provisioning the device and schedule a downtime just in case something was to happen.

thus theoretically it's possible & u may have intermediate nodes running L3 IS-IS among with L2-switching, it's unsupported design & u under significant risk to hit bug. u dont want to run like this in production

Agree. It doesn't feel right. Thanks for your thoughts
