Router L2 port to perform as L3 feature in SDWAN architecture ??

We have topology where ISR router is deployed with two links configured on L3 port and L2 port used for switching functionality...in case any of the L3 port gets faulty...can we use L2 port to perform functionality of L3 in SDWAN the way we use in traditional architecture. in case it is tested please share sample code. ISR moder 42xx.

please guide...FLEX VNF port support as per document is only for 1000 series ISR
