9216 - Change Network Admin Password

During initial configuration of 9216 switch, the default user/password of admin/admin were used. I now want to change the default user password to something else. Can this be done using the command: username admin password 5 (new password) role network-admin? I want to make sure before I try changing it and cannot get back into the switch.

Hi Jackie,

Yes, you can.

I would suggest to have two telnet session while changing the paswords. You change the password on one of them, even if you make a mistake you will still have connection to the sw with the other telnet session with the admin rights.

Yes you can do it, but if you use the option '5' in the "username" command, you must use the encrypted password.
