Hi,

today I updated two of our Nexus 5548P switches and on both I recieved the message

Images will be upgraded according to following table:

Module       Image         Running-Version             New-Version  Upg-Required

------  ----------  ----------------------  ----------------------  ------------

     1      system            5.0(3)N1(1c)             5.0(3)N2(1)           yes

     1   kickstart            5.0(3)N1(1c)             5.0(3)N2(1)           yes

     1        bios      v3.5.0(02/03/2011)      v3.5.0(02/03/2011)            no

     1   power-seq                    v3.0                    v3.0            no

     3   power-seq                    v2.0                    v2.0            no

     1          uC                v1.2.0.1               v1.0.0.14            no

after updating to "5.0(3)N2(1)" and rebooting I see a differnce in uC on both machines!

nexus1# show version |grep uC

  uC:        version v1.0.0.14

nexus2# show version |grep uC

  uC:        version v1.2.0.1

Both switches are pure switches without extension boards and without extenders.

Is anyone able to tell me why the linux kernel has been downgraded on one switch and not on the second one? (After telling me that it will be done on both?!)

And why is it downgraded at all?

Any ideas what's going on?

BTW: The whole 'show version' of both switches looks the same (except the uC). Here is one:

  BIOS:      version 3.5.0

Hello

We have replaced a defect hardware this week and we got following answer from Cisco TAC about the difference in the uC version:

The uC is a very little code which helps loading kickstart image. It's a  kind of BIOS if you like. It has nothing to do with the system image  (for example n5000-uk9.5.1.3.N1.1.bin). So on the new card you got a new  version of it.
