if so do I still need to install the feature-set fcoe in the default VDC to run in NPV mode?
Thanks,

You need to create a new VDC type storage and then allow the FCOE featureset.
On the Cisco Nexus 7000 Series device, you must create a storage VDC for FCoE traffic as follows:
N7K-1# configure terminal
N7K-1(config)# vdc fcoe_vdc type storage
Note: Creating VDC, one moment please...
N7K-1(config)# limit-resource module-type f1
N7K-1(config)# allow feature-set fcoe
N7K-1(config-vdc)# allocate interface ethernet 3/1-32

Hello Amit. Thanks for the response. i am familiar with the N7K FCOE configuration, but was curious about whether it supported fcoe-npv. Apparently it does not from the other post you referenced, though I would really like to see Cisco documentation that states this.

This has been discussed before, see eg.
