Cisco Nexus 5548UP and Brocade 6505 interoprability

Hello Experts,

I have a query related to interoperability between Cisco Nexus 5548UP and Brocade 6505 (Fabric OS version is v8.0.2c). My requirement is to connect Brocade FC switch to Nexus 5548UP and use Nexus to convert FC to FCOE.

DC1 Storage --- Brocade -- Nexus 5548UP <-----DWDM (ethernet) ----> Nexus 5548UP ---Brocade --- Storage --- DR

one of the requirement from the Brocade is to connect Cisco switches as N-Port Virtualizer (NPV) mode to connect to Brocade switches. Cisco NP ports connect to Brocade F_Ports. E_Port connectivity is not supported.

Would this setup work and is there is an configuration example on Nexus 5548UP that can used.

Thanks in advance for your support.

Hi,

The connection between Cisco and Brocade should works as NPV/NPIV.

But your design will not work, you cannot connect one NPV switch in another NPV switch.

For you desing works, you need invert the switch roles. Uses N5K as NPIV and Brocade as NPV.

Other problem, the distance between sites. PFC on N5K support up to 20 KM.

● PFC link distance support: 20 km
